Snowman Parade

The gallery in Wilmslow is taking part in the Snowman Parade, to add some festive cheer along with a number of other businesses in the area. Each business was asked to decorate their snowman with something to do with their business. Can you guess who our snowman is?

Toulouse-Lautrec (go and have a look at him on wikipedia - the likeness is uncanny! Well we think so)

New Paintings!

I have just received some new paintings into stock - lots of them! Will try to get them all properly photographed and uploaded tomorrow; but for the time being and for our blog readers only here's a sneaky pic of them all, including:

4 new Chekirov's
3 new Berger's
2 new Gerhard Neswadba's
3 new Paolo Bigazzi's
and a lovely new black & white Madjid

The gallery looks an absolute mess but it feels really exciting - it's like Christmas - I can't wait to start unwrapping all these gorgeous presents! (Oh I mean paintings!)

Our Follower! Sophie Ploeg

As you can see our only follower is the artist Sophie Ploeg.

Interesting just last week we had a customer in Widnes who had seen one of Sophie's paintings in the gallery back in February. It had since been swapped the last time Sophie came to change her works over.

But we got back in touch, had the painting couriered up and the customer has just been in to pay the balance today.

Happy faces all round.

P.S. We would love some more followers, please feel free to join up!

Birthday Boy!

It was my dad's, Peter's birthday on Monday and without knowing it our customers have been giving him a very good birthday week, with quite a few good sales.

Keep up the good work and don't forget to wish him a Happy belated Birthday!

Love you Dad Xx

New Paintings!

Having been away for 10 days I got home to see my dad has got lots of new gorgeous paintings in. I am trying to photograph them and get them on the website as quickly as possible but as you can probably see some have come in and sold before I got chance to upload them. We have ordered some more Barry Hilton's but they are proving very popular!

Oscar the cat

If any of you have pets or are animal lovers you will undoubtedly know the worry when one goes missing, Our beloved Oscar went missing on the 23rd August.

We have (well to be fair) my parents and mostly my brother Ric have spent many hours putting up posters and searching the surrounding streets trying to find the dopiest, softest, cutest cat there is, when joy of joys Ric found him!! Life and work can continue as before.

Busy Week

It's been a busy week here at the gallery, with lots of new stock, a big re-hang and not to mention the odd customer!

The website sales continue to grow with sales this week to the West Midlands, Herts and Germany.

Chris Chapman's 'Pond life' was in the gallery all of a day before it sold! Again to a couple visiting from Herts - there must be something in the water.

New Arthur Delaney originals in stock

Arthur Delaney was born in the All Saints district of Manchester in 1927 and died in 1987.

Lowry's work made him aware of the many special qualities of the north and soon he began producing street scenes and industrial landscapes. His paintings were not stylised but a true likeness to their location. He set out to capture the atmosphere of the 1930's and all of his paintings capture the nostalgia of the period.

Arthur Delaney's paintings are now more popular than ever and are being discovered by a new generation of collectors.

Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival

We recently took part in the Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival along with over 80 other businesses in the town.

We had such good fun making William Toupee (Bill to pay) our very own starving artist! And we were really happy to hear he had made the final 17.

Welcome to our first ever blog!

We are a family run business comprising of two Fine Art Galleries in the North West of England. Please visit our website: www.originalpaintings.com

As the title of this post suggests this is our first ever blog! Hopefully over time it will give you, our readers and customers a place to see what's going on at our galleries. We welcome any comments people wish to make and hope you enjoy reading!
